Salary range: $90,000 to $100,000 per annum
About the role:
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for researching, developing, designing and testing mechanical components and systems for use in mining equipment. The engineer is responsible to ensure that products developed meet the required cost targets, technical specifications, and that services provided are completed within the projected timelines.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Undertakes mechanical design activities and services that delivers product reliability, functionality and cost requirements, such as but not limited to:
- Assists Design Drafters in developing the mechanical components
- Determine specifications for mechanical components
- Researches, designs, installs, tests, analyses, and maintains mechanical systems and processes
- Investigates mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical system failures
- Tests maintenance procedures
- Approves drawings and contributes to design reviews
- Effective engagement with internal stakeholders to manage and mitigate risks relevant to the Power System Integration designs of components/systems and customer relationships. Including but not limited to:
- Providing solutions to reliability and performance issues
- Ensure relevant autonomous design related notifications, campaigns are captured and distributed to applicable stakeholders
- Providing relevant training/education associated with autonomous design
- Provides mechanical engineering guidance, advice and support to internal and external customers.
- Conduct effective field testing, trials and analysis on designed components and systems.
- Prepare and submit required reports and analysis of components / equipment, modifications, including their reliability and functionality performance.
- Establishes and maintains strong, effective and robust internal and external customer relationships.
Essentials:
- A Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in intensive mechanical design projects.
- Specific development experience with heavy, off road, or mining vehicles is highly desirable.
