Salary range: $60,000 – $65,000 per annum
Responsibilities
- Preparing and cooking dishes in accordance with methods.
- Season food.
- Ensure all food are of the highest quality and served in a timely manner.
- Monitor ordering, stock rotation and wastage.
- Quality Assurance – make sure the meat and other ingredients are fresh and the vegetables are clean and washed.
- Ensure that all food are stored in compliance with Health regulations.
- Check and maintain all kitchen equipment as necessary.
- Train other kitchen staff in cooking methods and techniques.
- Discuss food preparation issues with other staff.
- Ensuring that temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment are regulated.
- Come up with new and exciting dishes for the Menu.
- Sourcing quality produce from local suppliers.
- Making sure oven is looked after, with regular cleaning and maintenance.
- Preparing food to meet Vegetarian and other special dietary requirements.
- Maintain a clean and safe workspace, and abide by workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
Requirements and skills
- Certificate 4 or Higher in Commercial Cookery.
- Minimum 5 years previous experience in the Restaurant Industry, working in a fast paced environment undertaking a similar role.
- Experience in training team members to cook and food preparation.
- Experience working in busy restaurants, is desirable.
- Sound knowledge of OHNS regulations and implementation experience.
