Salary range: $80,000 to $100,000 per annum
The role of the Senior Civil Engineer is to be responsible for facilitating outsource civil engineering expertise for medium to large scale industrial and commercial projects.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Review client brief, decide on scope and confirm deliverables then assist with fee proposal
- Collect, compile and transfer mandatory design information
- Conduct site inspection.
- Consider the engagement of external consultants e.g.:- surveyor / Geotechnical / Traffic.
- Contact, request then negotiate guidelines with the relevant authorities.
- Communicate design approach to outsource team leader
- Update outsource team’s knowledge of relevant Australian codes, software and methods
- Prepare/ attend project meetings and Implement decisions into design.
- Liaise with Utilities’, external or in-house Architects and Engineers.
- Ensure team prepares/ develop sketch plans for client approval.
- Organize the delivery of concept designs for budget purposes
- Oversee the preparation of:
- Development Plan Consent application storm water management plan.
- Design and calculations to gain the civil component of building rules submission.
- Review civil drawings and documents prior to issue including:
- Storm water drainage plan and site sections
- Storm water quality, pollution treatment
- Storm water quantity (retention/detention) as required by client or council
- Overall approach as required by client.
- Site grading, Driveway / Road design.
- Pavement design recommendations
- In some instances, safety barriers, line marking and traffic control
- Civil details, kerbs, parking, driveways, footpaths, sumps, pits, swale erosion control.
- Site compaction and general notes.
- Specifications.
- Construction inspections and supervision
- Meet sales representatives /attend seminar regarding new products, software etc
- Improve the efficiency of internal systems and procedures.
- To comply with the Company’s quality management system policy and requirements, quality of work, and report any potential non-conformances.
Requirements:
- Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering
- At least 5 years of experience in a similar role
Skills:
- Knowledge of computers, in particular, AutoCAD software, to review designs and drawings
- Enjoy technical drawing and working with computers.
- Team orientated, committed to successful project outcome
- Ability to communicate well with clients, Engineers, Builders, Contractors and Authorities.
- Able to manage work priorities and Administration.
- Capacity to mentor and support a self-educating team.
