Salary range: $32 – $44 p/h.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Study drawings or sketches to determine the job, material and equipment requirements.
- Selection of metal stock, such as zinc, galvanised iron, mild steel, aluminium, copper and other materials, and check size, gauge and other dimensions of material relative to the job requirements.
- Mark out stock with reference points and lines, using templates, gauges and other measuring instruments
- Cut material using plasma cutter, gas axe, electric cutting disc, shears, hand snips, guillotines, cropper or drills.
- Shape and form cut material into products using folding or bending machines, rollers, join forming machines or hammers.
- Select, measure, cut and fit insulation or acoustic lining as required to meet the product requirements.
- Fit and assemble components into final product by hammer operation, welding, riveting, tech screwing, soldering, brazing or otherwise joining.
- Finish and clean assembled product ready for dispatch/pickup. May repair damaged sheet metal products and components.
- May specialise in fabrication of sheet metal attenuation products.
- May reproduce dilapidated sheet metal items requiring advanced drawing, calculating and pattern making skills.
- May require special skills base for fabrication or repair of decorative sheet metal work.
Essential Skills:
- Possess the skills, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of the position.
- Excellent communication skills
- Trade Qualified Refrigeration Mechanic and/or Electrician with a Strong Technical Background
- Restricted Electrical licence
- Refrigerant handling licence
- Drivers licence
- First Aid Qualification
- Excellent organisational skills
- Efficient record keeping
- Computer literate
- Broad experience in the Air Conditioning / Refrigeration Industry.
- Ability to multitask.

- Working at Heights Training
- Confined Space Training (an advantage)
