Structural Engineer

Salary range: $80,000 to $100,000 per annum

The role of the structural engineer is to compile estimates, calculations, plans and liaise with authorities, private certifiers, engineers, builders and contractors.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of structural calculations using engineering programs including Strand7, ETabs Limcon and Microstran for submission to the relevant building authorities.
  • Preparation of detailed sketch Technical Services arrangements (GA’s) indicating all relevant structural members and connection details to be provided to drafting staff.
  • Preparation of structural calculation reports.
  • Supervise structural draftsperson in preparation of structural drawings.
  • Undertaking site inspections and preparation of inspection reports.
  • Preparation of structural certificates, as required, for submission to gain the structural component of Building Rules approval.
  • To ensure printing and lodgment of design documentation has been completed on time and to a high standard.
  • Ensure that all structural designs are to the latest Australian design standards.
  • Ensure that all work has been checked by a Senior Engineer prior to being released.
  • To ensure compliance to the structural design procedures/philosophies adopted by the business.
  • Liaising with building contractors and all relevant building professionals.
  • Liaising with architectural staff to ensure consistency between disciplines.
  • To comply with the company’s quality management system policy and requirements, quality of work, and report any potential non-conformances.
  • Other duties as directed by management.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • At least 5 years of experience in similar roles
