Cook

Salary range: $60,000 – $65,000 per annum

 Responsibilities

  • Preparing and cooking dishes in accordance with methods.
  • Season food.
  • Ensure all food are of the highest quality and served in a timely manner.
  • Monitor ordering, stock rotation and wastage.
  • Quality Assurance – make sure the meat and other ingredients are fresh and the vegetables are clean and washed.
  • Ensure that all food are stored in compliance with Health regulations.
  • Check and maintain all kitchen equipment as necessary.
  • Train other kitchen staff in cooking methods and techniques.
  • Discuss food preparation issues with other staff.
  • Ensuring that temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment are regulated.
  • Come up with new and exciting dishes for the Menu.
  • Sourcing quality produce from local suppliers.
  • Making sure oven is looked after, with regular cleaning and maintenance.
  • Preparing food to meet Vegetarian and other special dietary requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workspace, and abide by workplace health and safety policies and procedures.

Requirements and skills

  • Certificate 4 or Higher in Commercial Cookery.
  • Minimum 5 years previous experience in the Restaurant Industry, working in a fast paced environment undertaking a similar role.
  • Experience in training team members to cook and food preparation.
  • Experience working in busy restaurants, is desirable.
  • Sound knowledge of OHNS regulations and implementation experience.
